Attend Folkemøde – a democratic dialogue marathon

Once again, Nordskoven is a comfortable and convenient base during the intensive days from Thursday to Sunday in week 24. Nordskoven is located right on the main route to Allinge with shuttle buses running regularly. We can help you create your own camp in cabins, glamping tents, or maybe your own tents. This year, as something new, we have our Retro Camp – 4 cozy renovated vintage camper trailers with comfortable sleeping space for 2, sitting area, electricity, and refrigerator. Breakfast can be added, and private shuttle bus service in an electric bus can also be booked this year if you stay at Nordskoven.

At Nordskoven, we enjoy the deep tranquility of the forest, and you can take advantage of it after a busy Folkemøde day. During Folkemøde days, many fires are lit on the site, connecting people across with a quiet hum and talk about the day’s experiences.

ABOUT FOLKEMØDET Folkemødet takes place every year in week 24 in Allinge on Bornholm. Here, we cultivate democratic conversation and reduce the distance between citizens and decision-makers. Folkemødet is a physical framework and a democratic ambition co-created by hundreds of organizations, associations, parties, and companies. At Folkemødet, we celebrate Danish democracy and community. We do this in the beautiful harbor town of Allinge, where debates, singing, and conversations take place in tents, on ships, in restaurants and cafes, on the cliffs, and under the open sky. These days of the year, we transform Allinge into Denmark’s political center, where citizens meet decision-makers. Throughout Folkemødet, we gather people of all ages who listen, speak, and become wiser together. Folkemødet is created in collaboration with associations, companies, interest organizations, and political parties.

Purpose of Folkemødet The primary purpose of Folkemødet is to strengthen Danish democracy by reducing the distance and increasing trust between citizens and decision-makers. This is done by creating a new framework for meetings between decision-makers in business, interest organizations, and politicians from the Folketing, EU, municipalities, and regions. And by giving citizens the opportunity to meet decision-makers face to face.

Open events It is a Danish tradition that democracy is for everyone who wants to participate. This tradition is the cornerstone of the Folkemødet concept. Therefore, all legal Danish organizations, associations, companies, etc., as well as individuals who meet Folkemødet’s principles for events, have the opportunity to be included in Folkemødet’s program. All events must be open to everyone. Speakers on the Main Stage The parties in the Folketing each have 30 minutes on the Main Stage at Cirkuspladsen during Folkemødet. This is where the traditional party leader speeches are held. Learn more at https://folkemoedet.dk/
